STC Relaunches Online Buyers Guide & Consultant Directory with Enhancements

by stc-office on 6 October 2009

ad-buyersguideThanks to STC Senior Member Bill Swallow for his bookmarks and security additions to the revised Online Buyers Guide & Consultant Directory. Check the STC website for the updated online buyers guide, which also lists technical communication consultants. In addition to companies that provide products and services, the names and contact information of more than 700 technical communicators who undertake single projects, ongoing programs, or perform contract work are listed. Many of the listings include a 50-word description summarizing the individual’s strengths and expertise. The Guide & Directory is fully searchable and presented in PDF format for viewing or downloading.

For the record, I just did a little SEO work by populating the properties form with titles, descriptions and keywords. I didn’t touch bookmarks or security.

I though that we were going to be allowed to make updates/changes before the relaunching – that’s the last news that I received from STC. When I tried to contact the STC on several occassions via email with some changes that needed to be made to my entry, I received absolutely no reply back. Now I find that it has been relaunched with my information still incorrect. What a cluster and what joke!

TVB, the opportunity to make changes or additions to the Buyers Guide was announced on this blog 3 Sept (and our website) and gave a link to my email (still connected). I’ve gone back through all of my emails since 1 Sept and I don’t see any from you. You can reach me direct at (571) 366-1917.

Tom, the call for updates was also Tweeted by at least a dozen people and I believe blogged by a few as well (including me). I think a few community leaders also emailed the extension info out to their communities.

TVB – to what address did you send your corrections?

Hey folks! One more thing. I completely missed that some of you wanted your email addresses published but masked from spam bots. I’m not sure if that’s entirely possible with PDF without disabling all links and copying of text (defeating the point of the directory) but I’ll see what I can do.
