STC Joins Amazon.com Associates

by stc-office on 9 September 2009

Frequent visitors to STC’s Notebook might have noticed the Amazon.com advertisement on the right side. STC joined the Amazon.com Associates program earlier this year, and receives a small royalty on every purchase made through our portal (this even applies to purchases such as athletic equipment, shoes, furniture, clothing, etc., as well as books and music). In addition, we’ll have periodic special offers, such as the current discount advertised.

If you have Amazon.com bookmarked on your computer, please consider changing that bookmark to the STC portal. There’s no extra cost to you, and STC reaps the benefit. Proceeds from the royalties support STC activities that do not traditionally have a revenue source (e.g. committee work, research, Body of Knowledge).

Thank you to those members who have already started making their Amazon.com purchases through our portal. We recently received our first check from Amazon.com, and look forward to many more–and hopefully larger–checks.

What a great idea! I’m changing my bookmark today.

Better late than never, I guess. The San Diego Chapter (http://stc-sd.org) has had this for a couple of years now. I do hope it helps the STC’s revenue, though.

Since all SIGs/Chapters are now zero-budgeting, should all of these point directly to STC.org’s associate number? For example, the Technical Editing SIG already does this with our Amazon.com box as well as the Buy Now links on our Shelfari bookshelf (http://www.stc-techedit.org/Essential+Reading ).
