Professional Experience
I have 19 years experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech/medical industry, both as an independent contractor and a corporate employee.
I am currently a full time, senior technical writer for Elekta Inc, where I write end-user documentation for oncology and pathology software. Other duties include:
- Interviewing prospective candidates
- Mentoring less experienced writers
- Globalizing documents using Simplified Technical English
- Designing templates
- Serving as a resource for end-user applications
I have worked in clinical data management and case report forms (CRF) design for human clinical trials. In addition to designing and developing CRFs and workbooks, I have also designed standard CRFs, wrote instructions, and created examples for filling them out.
My professional teacher/trainer experiences include:
- Designing a course manual and training employees in an intensive hands-on computer lab in using graphic elements of FrameMaker and its use in DataFax case report forms in half day courses, 1999–2001
- Teaching CRF development for the University of California Santa Cruz Extension for 8 years.
- Training newly hired employees in the company’s common desktop environment, computer network, communication policies and procedures, and basics of Windows NT, 1999
- Training co-workers in Microsoft Word and Outlook features in noontime seminars, 1998 and 1999
